Rhodes: Walking, Hiking and Trekking

“Rhodes offers all types of different walking areas from mountain, forestry to coastal walks. There are 44 villages on Rhodes and many of these are mountain villages untouched by tourism, stopping while walking through these villages and ordering a drink/meal in the taverna will be an experience in itself as if taking a step back in time.

The size of Rhodes Island lends itself ideally for day walks, travelling from your hotel to anywhere on the island within a comfortable time to start a days walking is easily achievable especially if you hire your own car. There are so many walking areas in Rhodes that it provides for all ability walkers from experienced mountain walkers to the casual walker that looking for a walk that last couple of hours and finishes in the mandatory taverna.

The island highest mountain Attavyros stands at 1,216 metres (3,990 ft), the path up this mountain starts and finishes in Embonas village with an altitude difference of 800mtrs this offers any experienced mountain walker a good days walking.

Akramitis Mountain offers an easier walk than Attavyros but has a real mountain feel about it.

Forestry and coastal walks offer easy paths for the casual walker.
